Sophie Olga de Jong

BIOGRAPHY

Since graduating from the animation department at St. Joost School of Art and Design Sophie Olga de Jong (1987) has been working as an animation artist and director. She made commissioned animations for several Dutch television programs like Sesame Street, the daily talkshow De Wereld Draait Door, for several museums like Het Groote Museum and Micropia in Amsterdam, and The Emily HobHouse Museum in Cornwall.

Additionally Sophie has been working as a traditional animator on movies like Where is Anne Frank, by Ari Folman and They Shot the Piano Player by Javier Mariscal and Fernando Trueba.

Together with Sytske Kok Sophie developed the independent animated short film Cycle (2018), which got selected for numerous international film festivals. Sytske and Sophie continued their collaboration for the animated short film Hondenleven (2025).

In 2022 Sophie received a nomination for the Victoriefonds Cultuurprijs, for which she got the opportunity to exhibit her animations and draw…
